WILL DAYS YET COME - Works in Colour on Paper 2012 - 2025

This book brings together Michael Kovner’s color sketches, documenting a turning point in his artistic process in 2012, when he began the Kibbutz Courtyard series. Replacing large charcoal drawings with small watercolor sketches made directly from nature, Kovner shifted the starting point of his work from the structure of space to the color spot.

In the studio, the sketches evolved into gouache paintings, which in turn became the basis for his oil paintings. Yet the process did not end on the canvas: Kovner returned to the landscapes that had inspired the original sketches, renewing his dialogue with them. His practice thus became a continuous cycle of observation, sketching, painting, and return.
